The Damen Shipyards Group is known by a portfolio of 36 ship- and repair yards, employing 12,000 people globally. Damen has delivered more than 6500 vessels in more than 100 countries and delivers approx. 160 vessels annually to customers worldwide. Besides the design and construction of ships ranging from RHIBs to ferries to pollution control vessels, Damen offers components and extensive after sales services.
A sustainable future for all our stakeholders is the only way to stay relevant. This means we should balance long-term economic, environmental and social aspects, based on the interests of our stakeholders.
One of the most versatile departments of Damen is Damen Technical Cooperation (DTC). At DTC we build all ship types (from sail training vessels to tugs) all around the world, under one condition: the shipyard is not owned by Damen. Our contracts go from licenses for the construction of patrol vessels for the American Coast Guard to the complete rehabilitation of a remote shipyard in Malawi for the construction of a fast crew supplier. This also entails that the scope of delivery of each project is different and that clients reach out to us because they desire to develop themselves. In general, we divide our services in: designs & licenses, material packages and building assistance.
As DTC, our diversity of projects and activities have an important economic, environmental and social impact. We would like to gain more insight in the environmental and social impact of our business in order to support our ambition: to develop a sustainable future for all our stakeholders.
If this footprint is mapped we have the opportunity to set goals and steer towards an increase in our positive impact and communicate about this.
